Women's Water Polo Drops to No. 15 UCSB

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's water polo faced No. 15 UCSB in the mid-week showdown and came out ready to play. Maddie Clough and Megan Chambliss were the two responsible for the Bronco goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Broncos started with a fire underneath them as the first period featured some of their best defense all year. Holding the Gaucho's to limited mobility as the Broncos nailed the first two goals within the first minute and a half of the game.

  • Chambliss found her goal just twenty seconds into the game from a pass off Chloe Morrison. Following a minute later, Sydney Maccabe tossed it to Clough who nailed her 15th goal of the season.

  • That was the end of the Bronco run as the Gaucho's ran away with the lead, finalizing the game at 15-2.

  • Offense was started off the sprint as Maccabe and Evelyn McLaughlin both won in the first and second periods. To start the third, Maccabe took the jump ball, giving the ball to the Broncos.

  • Liyara Senadheera started in goal and finished with five saves and one steal. Haley Tassell went in for the fourth period and took one steal of her own.
