SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis players
Guillaume Dalmasso and
Christian Lerby were named All-West Coast Conference in both singles and doubles, the league office announced on Wednesday ahead of the start of the WCC Championships.
Lerby was named to the first team and Dalmasso was named second team in singles while the Bronco tandem earned second team recognition in doubles.
The all-conference voting and major awards were voted on by the nine conference head coaches.
Lerby, a team captain, finished the regular season with a 10-5 singles record in dual matches, all coming at the top of the lineup. Three of those wins came in conference action. He has been ranked all spring season reaching a high of No. 52. The 2024 WCC All-Academic Team honoree delivered the 3-all match clincher against UC Davis earlier in the spring. Last season Lerby was named second team singles by the league.
Dalmasso also served as the team captain and reached a high of No. 123 during the spring season singles rankings. The senior posted a team-high 15 singles wins including going 6-1 in WCC play at either court one or two. This is the second time the 2024 WCC All-Academic Team member has been named second team in singles having been recognized in 2022 during his sophomore season.
In doubles, Lerby and Dalmasso combined to go 13-5 in dual matches including 3-2 in league play, all coming at the No. 1 position. Dalmasso repeats as a second team doubles honoree while this is the first such honor for Lerby.
The Broncos finished the regular season with a 17-6 overall record including 4-4 in conference play to finish fifth in the WCC and has been ranked for 10 straight weeks. On Thursday, they face fourth-seeded LMU in the opening round of the WCC Tournament at the Aztec Tennis Complex on the campus of San Diego State.
San Diego's Oliver Tarvet was named WCC Player of the Year while Pepperdine's Edward Winter was named Freshman of the Year. Pacific head coach Robin Goodman took home the Coach of the Year honors.
