No. 60 Men's Tennis Season Comes to an End at WCC Tournament Semis

SAN DIEGO – The fifth-seed Santa Clara men's tennis season came to an end at the hands of top-seed San Diego 4-0 in the semifinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament on Friday at the Aztec Tennis Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • San Diego (21-3), ranked 18th nationally, picked up the doubles point winning at lines one and two and in singles, the lower half of the line up all won to shut out the Broncos (18-7).
  • Sacchitt Sharrma and Stian Klaassen each won their singles and doubles matches with Sharrma clinching the team victory for the Toreros. 
  • Klaassen teamed up with Oliver Tarvet at doubles line two to defeat Christian Lerby and Luca Lemaitre 6-2 to secure the doubles point.
  • In singles, Klaassen quickly took care of Lemaitre 6-1, 6-1 at line five to put USD up 2-0.
  • Savriyan Danilov got the third point for San Diego when he beat Lukas Maskow 6-1, 6-3 at line four.
  • Sharrma then clinched the match at line six, 6-3, 7-5 over Tiago Boschmans
  • San Diego will move to the finals against second-seed Pepperdine on Saturday.

  • Santa Clara closed out the season with an overall record of 18-7.
