Women’s Tennis Signs Transfer from Saint Mary’s

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis announced that Tian Yu Dong is transferring from Saint Mary's to join the program for the 2024-25 season.

Dong, from Brisbane, Australia, played two seasons with the Gaels to post a 4-6 singles record and saw action in eight doubles matches her freshman year.  This spring, she mainly played in doubles in both the number one and two spots in the lineup.

"I chose Santa Clara because since I knew coach Allie her time as an assistant coach at Saint Mary's, I was fully confident in her outstanding ability to help push me not only on the tennis court but to also be a better person as a whole," said Dong.  "I am extremely excited to be under the coaching of Allie and Connor because not only do they have an incredible amount of technical knowledge, they also care about who their players are as people outside of the court.  And on top of this, I am excited to be challenged in new ways especially in the classroom because of their strong computer science program which aligns with my academic goals on top of my tennis dreams.  I am so excited to be called a Bronco!"

A West Coast Conference All-Academic honorable mention honoree this spring, Dong will have two years of eligibility remaining.

"It is such a privilege to welcome Tian Yu to our Bronco Family," said Broncos head coach Allie Will.  "She is a hardworking, amazing student-athlete who will enhance our program both on the court and in the classroom.  We are so blessed that she chose Santa Clara as her new home.  Go Broncos!"

Dong is the second signee in the 2024 recruiting class.
