Box Score LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 11 Santa Clara women's soccer won its third in a row to open the 2024 season with a 2-1 win at Long Beach State. The Broncos (3-0) were in control the vast majority of the match with the 49ers (1-2) keeper and a penalty kick goal keeping things interesting.

NOTABLE NUMBERS:

• Santa Clara held a 16-5 advantage in shots and an impressive 10-2 in shots on target. The Broncos also drew seven corners while surrendering two.
• Kennedy Schoennauer recorded her second brace in three games this season to give her a team-leading four on the year. She just missed a third late in the match when Aurora Schuck had a shot bounce off her hands but was able to swipe it away before it crossed the goal line.
• Lauren Zontos, who made her collegiate debut at San Jose State, made her first start. She played the opening 45 minutes and made one save. Ally Reynolds played the second half and made some nice plays off her line to snuff out potential chances for Long Beach State.
• Schuck made eight saves on the night to keep her team in it.
• The Broncos were without three starters. Goalkeeper Marlee Nicolos was out with an injury. Sally Menti was out after two yellow cards against Cal. Mana Hayashi is with Team Japan at the U20 World Cup.
