No. 11 Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 at No. 6 UCLA

Box Score LOS ANGELES – A late first half goal proved to be the difference as No. 11 women's soccer suffered its first loss of the season at No. 6 UCLA Sunday afternoon. The Broncos (3-1) created some chances early but couldn't convert and the Bruins (4-0) found a groove before finding the back of the net.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Sofia Cook scored the lone goal of the match in the 43rd minute off assists from Bridgette Marin-Valencia and Lilly Reale. From outside the box, Cook fired a well-placed shot inside the right post.
  • The Broncos best chance came in the 14th minute when Colby Barnett hit a shot just wide of the right post from inside the six-yard box.

NOTABLE NUMBERS:
  • Santa Clara created some offensive chances but was credited with just four shots, putting two of them on target, both by leading scorer Kenney Schoennauer.
  • Marlee Nicolos returned to the starting lineup after missing the match at Long Beach State with an injury, and came up big with nine saves.

NEXT UP
  • The Broncos return home to face Washington Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
