SANTA CLARA, Calif. –
Mana Hayashi has joined the long list of Santa Clara women's soccer players to head to the pro ranks,
signing a contract with the Chicago Stars of the National Women's Soccer League.
Â
Hayashi made a big impact in her lone season with the Broncos. An integral part of controlling the game in the midfield, she was named the WCC Freshman of the Year and was on the WCC All-Freshman Team.
Â
Hayashi played in just 11 matches with Santa Clara because she was with the Japanese National Team and the U20 World Cup, where she helped the team to a second-place finish. She was the only player attending a U.S. college to play in the championship match.
Â
There are currently
seven other former Broncos in the NWSL and several others playing overseas.
