SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball had a pair of players named
Preseason All-WCC while the team was picked to finish fifth in a poll of the league's head coaches. The Broncos honored on the Preseason team were transfers
Sophie Glancey and
Maia Jones.

Glancey was a unanimous First Team All-Big Sky pick last season at Northern Arizona where she played for
new Santa Clara coach Loree Payne. Glancey was also named to the All-Defensive Team and took home Player of the Week honors 10 times. She led the team with 18.1 ppg, 9.6 rpg, and 62 blocks. Her points per game ranked 48th nationally and her rebounds per game was 37th. Glancey scored in double figures 31 times and had 19 double-doubles which ranked seventh in the country.

Jones played at Saint Mary's last season and led the team with 12.2 ppg while adding 2.7 apg and 1.7 spg to go along with 3.0 rpg. She shot 45.7-percent from the field, 37.0-percent form downtown, and 82.1-percent form the charity stripe. Jones scored in double figures 18 times and 20-plus five times with a season-high of 28.

The Broncos begin the season November 3 at home against Stanislaus State and play at Stanford on November 6 to close out the first week of action.
