Men's Tennis Rolls Past Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. Luca Bluett had a hand in both the doubles and match clinchers to help Santa Clara men's tennis roll past Cal Poly 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Ronca Tennis Center.  The Broncos have now won their last three matches to move above .500 on the season.     
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Bluett teamed up with John Kim atop the doubles lineup to secure the doubles point after the Broncos and the Mustangs split the first two matches.  Bluett then clinched the match on court four at 4-1 in favor of the Broncos with a three set victory.  
  • Santa Clara (4-3) got off to a slow start in doubles play, losing the first match but came back to win the remaining two matches - Kim and Bluett beat Raz Haviv and Sean Kamyshev 6-4 on court one to put the team up 1-0.  
  • In singles action, Kim quickly took care of Aaron Eliscu 6-1, 6-3 on court six to push the lead up to 2-0. 
  • Cal Poly (1-3) got their lone point of the match on court two when Bastiaan Weststrate defeated Luca Lemaitre 6-0, 6-4 to cut the deficit to 2-1.  
  • Tiago Boschmans made it 3-1 in favor of the Broncos when he took down Liam Toroman 6-4, 6-2 on court five.  
  • The remaining three matches all went to three sets but Bluett was the first to win, defeating John Cross 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 on court four to give the Broncos the team win.  
  • Play continued as Lukas Maskow and Alex Watanabe Eriksson both came up on top in their matches.

  • The Broncos return home to host Idaho on Sunday at 11 a.m.
