Box Score SANTA CLARA, Calif. – A big day from beyond the arc lifted LMU to a 69-62 win over Santa Clara women's basketball Saturday afternoon. The Lions (10-12, 4-10 WCC) started the game with a 9-0 run and were hot from beyond the arc as the Broncos (13-12, 7-8 WCC) mounted a second half comeback attempt that came up short.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The game started with a four-point play for LMU and the Lions started the game with the first nine points. Olivia Pollerd got going and scored eight in the quarter, but Santa Clara was down 19-10 at the end of the period.
- It was a slow start to the second for both sides with the Lions missing eight shots in a row and going scoreless for 6:20 while the Broncos missed six in a row and went scoreless for 5:35. Santa Clara got the deficit down to five, but LMU came back with three 3-pointers in a row to stretch the lead to 14. A pair from the charity stripe for Pollerd in the final seconds made it a 33-21 Lions lead at the end of the half.
- LMU was up by 14 with 4:04 but went scoreless the rest of the third and Santa Clara closed the quarter on a 7-0 run, featuring five from Alana Goodchild, to make it a 47-40 game heading to the final period.
- After the Broncos go within five, LMU got the lead back to double digits with a 6-0 run. The Broncos would later use an 8-0 run to get within five with 49.5 remaining and got the deficit to as low as four but the Lions made their free throws to ice the game despite not making a field goal for the final 5:52.

NOTABLE NUMBERS:
- Santa Clara ended the day at 44.9-percent from the field and 7-of-19 from downtown. The Broncos had 17 assists on 22 made baskets.
- LMU shot it at 40.7-precent and was 12-of-26 from beyond the arc.
- Pollerd had her fourth double-double of the season and second in the last three games with 23 points and a career-high-tying 12 boards. She was 5-for-7 from beyond the arc as well. Kaya Ingram scored 19 with 6 rebounds and four assists and Maddie Naro dished out six assists.
- Brandi Williams led all scorers with 24 points while going 5-of-8 from deep and 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Allison Clark scored 18 while going 5-of-7 from downtown and Carly Heidger added 11 points and six rebounds.
- One of the differences in the game was LMU outscoring Santa Clara 21-2 in points off turnovers.
