Women's Tennis Downs CSUN on the Road

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis won four straight singles matches to rally from being down 2-0 to defeat CSUN 4-2 on Sunday.  It was their second straight road match in as many days after beating UC Irvine on Saturday to improve their season record to 5-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Velizara Fileva delivered the match clinching win at singles court three taking down Angela Ho 6-4, 6-1.
  • Fileva's clincher was preceded by singles victories from Daniella Dimitrova, Jillian Roa and Tian Yu Dong after the Broncos lost out on the doubles point and the first singles match.
  • CSUN (2-3) got off to a fast start dropping just one game in the two doubles match wins to earn the doubles point.
  • The Matadors took the first singles match on court six when Elena Goodman defeated Juliette Krumholz 6-2, 6-2.
  • Trailing 2-0 on the team scoreboard, Dimitrova started the win streak for Santa Clara with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Yuliia Zhytelna atop the lineup.
  • Roa followed with a straight set triumph at court four as did Dong on court two before Fileva's clincher.
NEXT UP:
  • The Broncos travel to Utah to face Utah State and Weber State on Saturday and Sunday.
