Women's Tennis Downed By No. 56 Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis faced their fourth nationally ranked opponent in the last six matches, falling to No. 56 Cal Poly 7-0 on Saturday in a makeup match from January that was postponed due to rain.     

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • No. 56 Cal Poly swept the two doubles and all six singles matches en route to a 7-0 victory over Santa Clara (6-8).
  • The Mustangs won both doubles by a score of 6-4 on courts one and two with Kennedy Buntrock and Romane Mosse securing the doubles point over Tian Yu Dong and Jillian Roa
  • Jessica MacCallum clinched the match at 4-0 with her singles victory on court five over Juliette Krumholz 6-2, 6-1.  
  • Velizara Fileva moved up to No. 2 in the lineup from her customary No. 3 spot and was edged out by Peyton Dunkle 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 in the final match.
