Box Score LOS ANGELES — Megan Chambliss and Sydney Maccabe scored multiple goals for the Santa Clara University women's water polo team Saturday, but host and No. 12-ranked LMU pulled away in the third period en route to a 17-7 Golden Coast Conference win at the Burns Aquatic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• LMU (15-11, 5-0 GCC) got out to a 5-0 lead in the first period. Sophia Harvey got the Broncos on the board in the first with her ninth goal of the season, making it 5-1. The Lions would lead, 7-1, after the first frame.
   
• Santa Clara (4-13, 0-4 GCC) would score two goals in each of the second, third and fourth periods. Maccabe got her first goal at the end of the second period, then got the Broncos' scoring going in the third with her second goal of the game 45 seconds into the second half.
   
• Chambliss scored both her goals in the second half, Evelyn McLaughlin scored in the second half, and Libby Slater got a goal in the second period.
   
• LMU's offense was led by Yanah Gerber, who netted four goals, while Ruth Arino Ruiz added three. Santa Clara's Fritzi Warneke made five saves in goal. Alyssa Barnuevo and Tatum Roistacher each recorded five saves for the Lions.
