Women's Tennis Loses to No. 70 Nevada on the Road

RENO, Nev. – Santa Clara women's tennis faced their third nationally ranked opponent in the last five matches, falling to No. 70 Nevada 4-1 on Saturday at the McArthur Tennis Center.     

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • No. 70 Nevada (7-1) controlled the match from the start sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point.  The clincher came from Amahee Charrier and Kennedy Robinson at court two over Jillian Roa and Tian Yu Dong 6-4. 
  • While the doubles matches were played out, the singles matches was a clinch format.  
  • Amahee blanked Daniella Dimitrova 6-0, 6-0 on court one to give the Wolfpack a 2-0 lead.  
  • Nevada pushed the lead out to 3-0 on court six as Petra Janigova downed Juliette Krumholz 6-1, 6-2. 
  • Anna Rahman temporarily halted Nevada's momentum with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Robinson on court five to make it 3-1 in favor of Nevada.  
  • Marlene Foerster wrapped things up with a 6-0, 7-6 (7-1) triumph over Dong on court two to clinch the team win.  
  • Santa Clara lost their fifth match in the row to drop to 6-7 on the season.  
NEXT UP:
  • Santa Clara plays at Cal Poly on March 15 as part of the makeup match from Jan. 26 which was postponed due to rain.
