Box Score SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's water polo team fell to the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds 12-9 in the second game in as many days at the Sullivan Aquatics Center. The Broncos led by one goal heading into the fourth period, but were unable to hold the lead as the Sunbirds scored four unanswered goals to take the game 12-9. The Broncos celebrated six seniors on their final home match of the season and were led by Megan Chambliss and Chloe Rizof with two goals each.
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Broncos struck first off a goal from senior Libby Slater, but the Sunbirds evened it up early. Both teams traded goals until back-to-back goals from Megan Chambliss and Sydney Maccabe put the Broncos up 5-3.
• However, Fresno Pacific refused to go away scoring two goals of their own to tie up the score, and adding another before the half to make it 6-5 heading into the break.
• The Broncos scored three in a row to open the second half with goals from Chloe Rizof, Evelyn McLaughlin, and Sophia Harvey. A goal from Makenna Genco made it 9-7, but Fresno Pacific found the back of the net again to make it 9-8 heading into the fourth period.
• Four straight goals from the Sunbirds put them ahead 12-9, closing out the game as they held the Broncos scoreless in the final eight minutes.

NOTABLE NUMBERS:

• The Broncos honored six seniors tonight- Libby Slater, Nina Damjanac, Kate Rodman, Stephanie Nelson, Franchesca Moynihan, and Sophia Harvey.
• Seven different Broncos scored, led by Chambliss and Rizof with two goals each.
• Haley Tassell played all 32 minutes in goal, recording six saves and two steals.
