Broncos Tied For Lead On Opening Day of WCC Championship

FAIRFIELD, Calif. - Santa Clara started the 2025 WCC Women's Golf Championship with a bang, shooting 2-under 286 in Thursday's opening round at the par 72 Green Valley Country Club to finish the day in a tie for first alongside Oregon State. All five Broncos in the lineup are inside the top-15 of the individual standings with freshmen Amy Im and Chloe Lam both inside the top-five. 

ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Im opened the round 1-over 37 through the first nine holes before closing out her day with a bogey-free back nine that featured birdies on holes 12, 17 and 18 to finish 2-under 70. The Auckland, New Zealand, product is just one stroke behind Pepperdine's Jeneath Wong for second and is four strokes back from the day one leader - Raya Nakao of Oregon State (66).
  • Fellow freshman Lam is right behind her teammate in a tie for fourth at 1-under 71. The Fountain Valley, Calif. native was nearly perfect for the day, finishing with just one bogey on the par-4 No. 6 hole after turning in birdies on Nos. 3 and 5. She was perfect for the remainder of the day, making par on the next 12 holes. 
  • Yet another Bronco Freshman also impressed and finished the day inside the top-10, as Proud Sriwongngam turned in an even-par 72 that saw four birdies counter four bogeys. She is in sole possession of eighth and just outside of the four-way tie for fourth. 
  • Junior Audrey Brust is right behind Sriwongngam and also inside the top-10 at 1-over 73 where she is in a six-way tie for ninth. Brust was 3-over heading into the final five holes, but sank birdie putts on Nos. 14 and 16 to push up the leader board and help Santa Clara ascend to the top of the team standings. 
  • Sophomore Kelsey Kim shot 2-over 74 to tie for 15th. She bounced back from three bogeys in the front nine to close out the back half of the course with par or better on eight of the nine holes. 
  • Santa Clara and Oregon State hold a three-stroke lead over No. 40 Pepperdine and are eight strokes ahead of San Francisco and Washington State (294).
