Box Score SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's water polo got off to a quick start but ultimately fell to San Diego State 14-9 Saturday afternoon from the Sullivan Aquatic Center.
Kate Rodman led the way for the Broncos (5-14, 0-5 GCC) with three goals and
Libby Slater scored twice with five others finding the back of the net once. Nine Aztecs (14-11, 4-2 GCC) scored, led by three goals from Megan Holcomb with three others scoring twice each.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Santa Clara scored the first three goals of the day with Rodman finding the back of the net twice. San Diego State came back with three in a row of their own, including one with seven seconds left in the first to close the period with the score even.
- The Aztecs would make it a six straight goals with three more in the second while holding the Broncos scoreless in the period. At the half, Santa Clara was down 6-3.
- Megan Chambliss got the Broncos back on the board early in the second, but San Diego State scored two in a row to stretch the lead out to four. The teams would trade goals the rest of the way with the Aztecs leading 10-6 after three.
- After getting within three on a goal Sydney Maccabe in the early part of the fourth, Santa Clara saw San Diego State score three in a row to stretch the advantage to 13-7. Back-to-back Bronco goals made kept them in it but Santa Clara wouldn't get closer that four goals the rest of the way.
