SANTA CLARA, Calif. – For the second time, a Santa Clara women's soccer alum has become the first player to join an expansion team in the National Women's Soccer League. Annie Karich officially signed as the first player in the history of the Boston Legacy Football Club that will begin play in 2026. She joins Alex Loera who was the first player to sign with Bay FC.

Karich played two years at Santa Clara, taking home several awards. As a freshman in 2022, Karich was named Second Team All-West Region as well as the WCC Freshman of the year, First Team All-WCC, and WCC All-Freshman. She tied for the team lead with eight assists that season.

She was even better as a sophomore, nabbing First Team All-West Region honors and being named the WCC Defender of the Year and First Team All-WCC. That year she started all 21 games while scoring two goals and adding two assists.

Karich signed with SC Freidburg in Germany after the 2023 season.
