Box Score STANFORD, Calif. – No. 16 Santa Clara women's soccer fell at No. 7 Stanford 5-1 Sunday afternoon. The Cardinal (2-0) were in control and got on the board early while the Broncos (1-10 struggled to get any offense going.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• A turnover in the defensive third by Santa Clara led to the first goal of the day for Stanford in the 14th minute. After the miscue, Jasmine Aikey slipped a pass Allie Montoya who was able to hit a low shot inside the left post.
• The Bronco deficit grew to two after Andrea Kitahata converted a penalty kick in the 28th minute.
• Less than three minutes later, Elise Evans scored off a loose ball in the box off a corner to make it 3-0.
• Joelle Jung extended the lead with a goal right out of halftime in the 47th minute.
• The Broncos got on the board in the 89th minute. Leah O'Brien sent a roller as we went to the ground that Adee Goulden smoked inside the near post.
• Stanford would come right back with their fifth of the match less than 30 seconds later.

 
NOTABLE NUMBERS:

• Santa Clara struggled to connect passes and keep the ball and ended the day with just two shots and one on goal. Stanford got off 28 shots with 13 on target.
• Amaris Franco made her first career start and made a career-high seven saves while playing the first half. Ally Reynolds played the second half and made two saves, also a career high.
