DAVIS, Calif. – The Santa Clara men's tennis team kicked off the 2025-26 spring season with a 4-1 road victory over UC Davis on Saturday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center taking the doubles point and winning three of the four singles matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lukas Maskow got the match clincher while Luca Bluett won both his doubles and singles matches.
- Santa Clara (1-0) picked up the doubles point on wins by Tiago Boschmans and newcomer Ferran Redza on court three as well as Bluett and John Kim on court one. The Bluett/Kim tandem was coming off their appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the first in men's tennis program history, last November as they were pushed by Ivan Savkin and Kaveh Taheri before winning 7-6 (7-3) to claim the doubles point for SCU.
- UC Davis (0-1) got the first singles point to even the team score at 1-all on a victory by Lucas Bollinger over Alexander Watanabe Eriksson 6-0, 6-0 atop the lineup.
- The Broncos answered with three straight singles wins starting with Valentin Faure on court five, followed by Bluett on court six and the match clincher by Maskow who took down Savkin in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 on court four.
