SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's basketball's 2026-27 roster received a big addition on Thursday in the form of 6-foot-5 Creighton transfer Fedor Zugic.
Zugic joins the Broncos after averaging 4.9 points and 1.8 rebounds in 56 career games as a Blue Jay over the last two seasons. He signed with Creighton in 2024 and played sparingly in 22 games his freshman year in 2024-25. The native of Kotor, Montenegro, then took on a larger role in 2025-26, starting eight of his 34 total appearances in which he averaged 5.2 points and 2.0 rebounds.
Zugic found his way into the starting lineup for the first time on Feb. 18, 2026 against No. 5 UConn. He made the most of the opportunity by scoring a career-best 14 points in 31 minutes of work while also grabbing five rebounds. The guard would go on to lead the Blue Jays in scoring against No. 17 St. John's on Feb. 21 and tallied five total double-figure scoring efforts.
Prior to making his way to Omaha, Zugic had an extensive journey to the collegiate ranks. He played for the majority of his life for the best basketball team in his native Montenegro – KK Buducnost. In 2019, he became the youngest player to ever play in a EuroLeague game and mostly played in the Montenegrin Prva A League during his teenage years. He also played at the U18 level where he averaged 18.3 points per game at the 2019 Adidas Next Generation Tournament in Munich, Germany.
In 2020, Zugic joined Ratiopharm Ulm, one of Germany's best professional teams who has seen tremendous success in producing NBA talent over the last few years, including NBA lottery picks Killian Hayes (7
th overall in 2020) and Noa Essengue (12
th overall in 2025). The team is also the former stomping grounds for current Bronco
Jake Ensminger.
Zugic played in over 90 games over the course of three years in Germany, including one season on a loan to BC Gottingen. He also played in European competitions such as the EuroCup and BCL Champions League, some of the highest competitions in the world.
Zugic was also a standout on the FIBA scene with Montenegro. In 2019, he averaged 19 points per game in the U16 Euro in Italy – a tournament that also featured former Bronco star Adama-Alpha Bal. In 2022, he helped Montenegro capture the silver medal at the U20 Euro after averaging 18.0 points.
Zugic currently still holds a roster spot on the Senior Montenegrin team and has been helping the team lock down a qualifying spot for the 2027 FIBA World Cup.
