SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Santa Clara University women's volleyball outside hitter Cate Shanahan earned her third consecutive West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week award Monday after averaging 5.67 kills per set and turning in two 20-plus kills performances during the week of Oct. 12-18.

Shanahan fell only one kill short of tying her season and career high in kills Thursday with 25 versus Pacific. She hit .300 against the Tigers while also collecting four digs, two service aces and two blocks. Saturday, she did tie her season and career high with 26 kills against Saint Mary's. She logged her sixth double-double of the year against the Gaels with a season-high-tying 14 digs. She also had a service ace and a block in that match.

Shanahan has averaged 5.68 kills per set while hitting .327 over the past three weeks (five matches). She's turned in three consecutive 25-or-more kills performances since Oct. 10, and she has hit .300 or better in four of five matches during this run.

Shanahan's three consecutive Offensive Player of the Week honors give Santa Clara eight total WCC weekly awards this season. Morgan Hayes won the same award in back-to-back weeks on Sept. 7 and 14. Macy Hinshaw has earned two Setter of the Week accolades, and Allison Dzieciuch was named the Freshman of the Week on Oct. 5.

Shanahan and the Broncos head to Southern California this week for two conference matches, facing LMU on Thursday and Pepperdine on Saturday, both tied for second in the WCC standings. Fans can find all live coverage links on SantaClaraBroncos.com.
