SANTA CLARA, Calif. – In a battle between two nationally ranked teams, John Kim came back from a set down to defeat Illia Maksymchuk to clinch the match for No. 40 Santa Clara men's tennis over No. 74 UNLV that extended the Broncos win streak to five matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kim dropped the first set tiebreak to Maksymchuk but took the last two sets to win 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 6-4 on court three.
- Just as they did a day earlier against New Mexico, Santa Clara (9-2) got the doubles point on wins by Tiago Boschmans and Luca Lemaitre on court two with the clincher from Valentin Faure and Ferran Redza on court three.
- Luca Bluett took the first singles match downing Taiyo Hirano 6-3, 6-1.
- UNLV (6-4) answered with wins on courts two and one to even the team score at 2-all.
- Lukas Maskow put the Broncos back up 3-2 when he defeated Michael Kouame 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 before Kim's clincher.
