SAN DIEGO – No. 19 San Diego State was too much as Santa Clara women's water polo fell on the road 20-4 Friday afternoon in GCC action. The Aztecs (9-7, 2-1 WCC) got off to a fast start and never let the Broncos (2-12, 0-2 GCC) get into the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• San Diego State came out strong and scored three goals in the first three and a half minutes of action. After Santa Clara got on the board, the Aztecs scored two more before the end of the first quarter and led 5-1 at the first break.
• San Diego State scored two more to start the second before the Broncos tallied again. The pattern of two for the Aztecs and one for Santa Clara followed again and the Broncos were down 9-3 at the half.
• San Diego State put the game away in the third with the first four goals of the period. Santa Clara managed to score on a power play with 25 seconds left go make it a 13-4 game heading to the fourth.
• The Aztecs dominated the fourth, scoring seven goals without allowing the Broncos to find the back of the cage.

NOTABLE:

• Chloe Rizof led the way on offense for Santa Clara with a goal and an assist. Hailey Romano, Khloe Tarbet, and Sydney Maccabe all added a goal apiece with Lia Lakis also chipping in an assist. Haley Tassell made eight saves while Fritzi Warneke also saw action in the cage.
• Mimi Stoupas had a monster game, scoring six goals and adding one assist. Shannon Murphy scored three times with a pair of assists and three others had two goals. Ioanna Petiki led the way with four assists and Sydney Gish registered two with two other adding multiple assists as well. Three players saw time in the cage for San Diego State. Mandy Lagerlof made tow saves, Tiaare Ahovelo made two, and Kyla Pranajaya made six.
