Broncos Handle Business on Senior Night

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's basketball put a stamp on the 2025-26 regular season with a 93-72 victory over Oregon State. The Broncos finished conference play with a program-record 15 wins and enter the upcoming Credit Union 1 WCC Championship with a 24-7 overall record – tied for the third-most wins in program history.

Five Broncos scored in double figures led by a 19-point effort from senior Brenton Knapper in his final regular-season home game as a Bronco.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Santa Clara (24-7, 15-3) jumped out to a 12-7 lead in the first four minutes before Oregon State (16-15, 9-9) pushed back to take their first lead at 17-16 with 11:21 to play in the opening half. A floater from Christian Hammond sparked a 9-0 Bronco run to regain control at 25-17, and SCU held on to the lead for the remainder of the half, although by no more than two possessions. The Broncos took a 38-33 lead into the locker room.
  • Santa Clara scored 21 of their 38 first-half points by way of the 3-pointer (7-of-20), but were held to under 40 percent from the floor in total while Oregon State shot 40 percent on the dot at 10-of-25 with just a pair of 3-pointers. Senior Brenton Knapper led the charge with nine points while Johan Munch poured in 13 points to lead the Beavers in the opening 20 minutes.
  • Oregon State buried a triple on their first possession to open the second half to make it a 2-point game, but it was all Broncos for the next three minutes and change as they used a 13-2 run to take a 51-38 advantage with 16:44 remaining. The lead extended to 17 at 65-48 with 12:14 left, however the Beavers made another push with an 8-1 spurt to cut the lead down to 10 at 69-59. Elijah Mahi knocked down a corner trey in front of the home bench to end the run and shift the momentum back to the Broncos with eight minutes to play.
  • Santa Clara didn't sweat much for the remainder of the game, taking a 20-point advantage at 84-64 with 3:36 remaining and leading by as much as 22 down the stretch.
  • The Broncos won the second half 55-39 and shot 51.5 percent in the final 20 minutes.
  • SCU shot 44.8 percent for the game, edging Oregon State's 43.5 percent clip. The Broncos were 13-of-36 from 3-point range and held the Beavers to just 4-for-20 from beyond the arc.
  • Santa Clara pulled down 41 rebounds to Oregon State's 29, including 19 offensive boards that led to 29 second-chance points.
NOTABLE NUMBERS:
  • Santa Clara's 24 wins are tied with the 2010-11 team for third-most in program history. The tally stands as the second-most regular-season wins in program history behind only the 1968-69 Broncos (26 wins).
  • The Broncos conclude the season 14-1 in Leavey Center. The 93.3 home win percentage is the second-best in program history behind only the 1996-97 season when SCU was a perfect 8-0.
  • Knapper logged his 13th double-figure scoring game of the season, knocking down three 3-pointers as part of his second-highest scoring tally of the year. He also pulled down four rebounds and had a pair of assists.
  • Allen Graves turned in 14 points for his 22nd game in double figures. He has done so in 14-straight games excluding the San Francisco game in which he missed all but four minutes due to an injury. The big man also pulled down five rebounds.
  • Mahi also reached double-figure scoring with 12 points for his 23rd such game on the year. The Toronto product also had five rebounds and five assists in his final regular-season game at Leavey Center.
  • Bukky Oboye returned to double-figure scoring for the first time since the Washington State road win on Feb. 7, logging 11 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting.
  • Jake Ensminger stuffed the stat sheet with 10 rebounds (his fifth game in double-figure rebounding on the year and 15th time of his career) to go with eight points, a career-high seven assists and a pair of steals.
  • Francis Chukwudebelu scored his first points since the Arizona State game on December 13.
