No. 40 Men's Tennis Wins 11th Straight

PORTLAND, Ore. – No. 40 Santa Clara men's tennis defeated Portland 5-2 for their second consecutive West Coast Conference victory on the road and extended their win streak to 11 matches on Sunday at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Santa Clara (15-2, 2-0 WCC) won five of the six singles matches including the match clincher from Valentin Faure.
With the Broncos ahead 3-2, Faure took down Tannor Binder 6-4, 6-4 on court five to extend the team's win streak. He also pushed his personal singles win streak to seven matches.
John Kim currently owns the longest singles win streak on the team with nine. Luca Bluett is next with eight, Lukas Maskow is at seven, tied with Faure followed by Lemaitre with five. Each of them added to their totals on Sunday.
Portland (5-11, 0-3 WCC) got their points taking two doubles matches and also at singles court one.
The Broncos dropped their second consecutive doubles point. The ranked doubles teams of No. 50 Bluett and Kim along with No. 57 Tiago Boschmans and Lemaitre lost. Bluett and Kim fell to Stefan Skobelev and Lucas Kimelman 6-4 on court one. And Boschmans and Lemaitre dropped their match to Tom Garcia and Eli Noel 6-3 on court two.
Cade Fernando beat Alexander Watanabe Eriksson in three sets 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-5) on court one that closed the gap to 3-2 on the team scoreboard before Faure's clincher.
