FAIRFIELD, Calif. – Third seed Santa Clara men's tennis took care of sixth seed Saint Mary's 4-1 in the opening round of the West Coast Conference tournament at the Green Valley Country Club to move on to the semifinals.  The Broncos will next face second seed Pepperdine on Friday at noon PT.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Luca Lemaitre and John Kim won their doubles and singles matches as Santa Clara (20-3) took the doubles point and three of the four singles matches.
• Lukas Maskow delivered the match clincher on court four over Juan Pedro Etchecoin (SMC) 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
• Saint Mary's (9-14) got their lone point from Thibaud Maxant who defeated Alexander W Eriksson (SCUMTEN) 6-1, 6-4 atop the singles lineup.
• The Broncos claimed the doubles point winning on courts two and one.  At two, Tiago Boschmans and Lemaitre defeated J. Etchecoin and Paulo Hugo Etchecoin 6-3.  And at one, the No. 63 ranked duo of Luca Bluett and Kim downed Finny Dyer and T. Maxant 6-4 to get SCU . 
• T. Maxant evened the match at 1-all for the Gaels' first point in two matches after getting shutout in the regular season matchup between the two schools.
• Kim put the Broncos ahead 2-1 with a straight set victory on court three 6-2, 6-3 over Dyer..      
• Lemaitre followed suit beating P. Etchecoin 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) on court two to give the Broncos a 3-1 edge.
