SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's golf has added veteran collegiate golf coach TL Brown to its coaching staff. The former Cal Baptist men's golf head coach is joining
Andrew Larkin's staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Brown has a total of 20 years of coaching experience at four institutions and has guided 27 players to All-America honors.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome TL to the Santa Clara Family," Larkin said. "He has showed an incredible dedication to his players over a very successful coaching career, and he will be a major asset for the program going forward."
Brown joins the Broncos after an outstanding seven-year run as the Lancers' head coach where he holds the program record of six team victories. First joining CBU in 2016-17, Brown also guided the team to 11 top-three finishes and a pair of NCAA Division II Championship appearances. That initial season remains the best of the bunch as the Lancers set multiple program records, including a team scoring average of 290.49 strokes, and finished sixth nationally in national scoring rating. He was honored as the NCAA Division II West Region Coach of the Year and was one of five semifinalists for the Dave Williams Coach of the Year Award.
Prior to Cal Baptist, Brown spent nine years at Chico State where he helped mold the Wildcats into a perennial national championship contender. The team reached the NCAA postseason each season under Brown's guidance, including three top-three finishes with runner-up finishes in 2012 and 2016. The Wildcats won a total of 26 tournaments and posted 78 top-five finishes during his tenure. He was a four-time Golf Pride's West Region and two-time California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Coach of the Year honoree, and was finalist for the Dave Williams Coach of the Year Award for the first time following a runner-up finish at the 2016 National Championship.
Brown's coaching career began in Arizona with stops at Arizona Western College from 1997-99 and South Mountain Community College from 1999-07, the latter of which he guided the team to five consecutive regional championships from 2001-05. He was honored as the 2004 NJCAA Division II Coach of the Year.
"I want to thank Santa Clara Athletics Director Heather Owen and head coach
Andrew Larkin for this incredible opportunity," Brown said. "It is refreshing to see such great support from administration, boosters, alumni and former players. I'm excited to help elevate this program in the West Coast Conference and on the national level. Go Broncos!"
