GREENWOOD, Ind. — Six Santa Clara University student-athletes across four different teams were named Tuesday to the At-Large Academic All-District team Tuesday, as announced by College Sports Communicators.
Matt Robles of men's golf,
Alexandra Urbina and
Sammy Wood of beach volleyball,
Audrey Brust and
Alexa Pineda of women's golf, and
Dominique Matthews of women's rowing all earned the honor.
The award was the second in a row for both Brust and Urbina after also earning it in 2025. All six Broncos student-athletes had to meet high academic and athletic standards related to their individual sports, which included carrying a minimum 3.500 cumulative Grade Point Average, and playing in a majority of their team's games/events.
Robles, a West Coast Conference All-Academic and all-WCC honorable mention performer, has posted a 3.563 GPA in pursuit of an economics degree. The sophomore had an outstanding season on the course, leading the team in scoring average (71.06), top-20 finishes (6) and rounds under par (7). The Downey, Calif., product tied for the team lead of three top-10 finishes, taking fourth place at both the Palouse Collegiate (11-under 202) and Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational (14-under 2020) before closing the year with a tie for seventh at the WCC Championship (4-under 209).
Urbina, a junior finance major with a 3.783 GPA, collected an impressive 27 wins in 2026, capped by an undefeated, 4-0 run on the last day of the WCC Championship Tournament in April. She went 22-10 at the No. 4 pairs and 5-3 at No. 3. Urbina was named to the all-WCC second team and earned WCC all-academic honorable mention accolades this spring. Urbina and her partner
Ciara Cantlen were named the WCC Pair of the Week on March 9 after earning wins over ranked opponents UAB (No. 24 in the TruVolley rankings) and No. 14 Stetson at the Long Beach State Invitational.
Wood, an accounting major with a 3.881 GPA, was also a 20-match winner for Santa Clara in 2026, going 20-19 with appearances across all three of the top pairs spots. She was named to the all-WCC second team while playing at the No. 1 pairs at the WCC Championship Tournament, going 4-2 there. She went 8-7 overall at the 1s, 10-9 at the 2s and 2-3 at the 3s during the season while also earning WCC all-academic honorable mention distinction.
Brust just wrapped up her remarkable career by appearing in all 10 events and turning in a collective 73.70 strokes per round - fourth-lowest in program history. Earning a 3.697 GPA in pursuit of a degree in public health science, she leaves the program as the all-time leader in career rounds played (126) and the fourth-lowest career scoring average (74.91). She also earned honorable mention WCC All-Academic honors.
Pineda, who has posted a 3.514 cumulative GPA as a finance major, closed out her sophomore season with a fourth-place finish at the WCC Championship where she carded even par to set the individual program record at the event. She played in a total of seven events over the year in which she averaged 74.67 strokes.
Matthews has a 3.602 GPA as a Political Science major and competed in every race for the Broncos this season in the Varsity 8 boat. She was named all-WCC for the second year in a row after the Conference Championship and was Preseason all-WCC each of the last two seasons as well.
