TEMPE, Ariz. – The Santa Clara men's tennis program finished with a program best No. 7 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division I Men's Mid-Major Team Rankings and tied a program best No. 3 in the Regional Team Rankings that was released on Wednesday.
The doubles tandem of
Luca Bluett and
John Kim were ranked No. 3, the highest in program history, in the Northwest Regional doubles list while
Tiago Boschmans and
Luca Lemaitre came in at No. 10.
A quartet of singles players were ranked, setting a program high for the most ranked players.
Luca Lemaitre led the way at No. 12, followed by
Alexander Watanabe Eriksson at No. 16, Johm Kim at No. 18 and
Valentin Faure at No. 20.
The Broncos' previous best finish in the mid-major team rankings came in 2024 when they were No. 20. And in the regional team rankings, they tied the 2019 team at No. 3.
The Mid-Major rankings consist of the Top 25 teams competing outside the Power Four conferences (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC) while the Regional rankings consist of the Top 10 team rankings, Top 20 singles rankings, and Top 10 doubles rankings from 13 regions.
This season, Santa Clara earned an NCAA Team Championship bid for the second time ever after a historical regular season that saw them capture their first ever West Coast Conference co-championship. They finished with an overall record of 20-5 that included a 13-match win streak, the longest since at least 2001-02. In league play, Santa Clara had identical 6-1 records with Pepperdine and San Diego to qualify for the WCC Tournament for the eighth straight season.
In the final ITA National Rankings, they had the second-best finish in program history at No. 38, behind the 2012 squad that ended their year at No. 33.
