LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Santa Clara University women's volleyball program earned its seventh consecutive Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association Thursday, capping a successful 2025-26 year both on the court and in the classroom.
 
The Broncos posted a 3.477 cumulative Grade Point Average through the 2025-26 spring quarter. That included five GPAs over 3.800 and nine at 3.600 or higher. 17 Broncos had GPAs over 3.000. The team collected a program-record 10 West Coast Conference All-Academic honors in the fall and had four student-athletes named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators.
 
Santa Clara was one of 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball teams across the country who earned the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award Thursday. Teams receive the award by maintaining a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale).
 
"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."
 
On the court, the Broncos went 17-12 overall and 12-6 in WCC play last season, finishing fourth in the conference. They collected six all-WCC awards and ranked among the conference's top-three in a number of categories, including kills (2nd), assists (2nd) and digs (3rd). They return five of their all-WCC honorees and all but two student-athletes from last season's team while adding four newcomers for 2026. The Broncos' 2026 season starts on Aug. 28 in Dayton, Ohio, at the Flyer Invitational.
