SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Former Santa Clara men's basketball forward
Johnny O'Neil will take part in NBA Summer League 2026 with the New Orleans Pelicans. He joins fellow former Broncos
Allen Graves (Toronto) and
Elijah Mahi (Oklahoma City) for Summer League, which features all 30 NBA teams and will be held July 9-19 at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Santa Clara's three former players are the most representatives at NBA Summer League of any team in the WCC.
O'Neil, a 2024 graduate, played for the Laketown Squadron, New Orleans' G League Team, last season where he averaged 8.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game over 35 contests, including five starts. He joined the team after signing an Exhibit-10 with the Pelicans last September, where he was promptly waived and designated to the G League roster. Prior to his time with the Squadron, he signed with the Leicester Riders of the British Basketball League.
O'Neil was a two-year starter who played in 67 career games for the Broncos in which he averaged 9.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. As a junior in 2023-24, he was the lone player on the roster to start all 33 games and averaged 11.0 points per game.
O'Neil, Mahi and Graves were all teammates during the 2024-25 season, although Graves sat out with a redshirt. The trio will begin their Summer League journey this week with O'Neil and the Pelicans kicking things off on July 9th against the Timberwolves. Both Graves and Mahi will be in action on July 10th against the Celtics and Lakers, respectively.
