SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara University beach volleyball coach Jeff Alzina will continue leading the Broncos through the 2029 season, after signing a three-year contract extension announced Thursday.
 
"I'd like to thank Athletics Director Heather Owen and our athletics administration for believing in my vision and successes with the beach volleyball program by extending my contract over the next three years," said Alzina. With our recent WCC finals appearances the last two seasons, we are on the verge of significant national success."
 
Alzina led the Broncos to a program-record 23 wins in 2026 and a second consecutive appearance in the West Coast Conference Tournament final. The team raked in five all-WCC awards and seven all-academic honors last spring while also earning its seventh consecutive AVCA Team Academic Award in July.
 
Alzina has built the Santa Clara beach program from the ground up since taking the reins in 2019. The team has gone from only two wins in his first year to five consecutive double-digit-victory campaigns since 2022. The Broncos have finished no worse than third place in four of the last five WCC Tournaments after going 2-and-out in each of Alzina's first two appearances (2019, '21), showing the team's growth not only during the regular season but postseason as well.
 
"Our next three recruiting classes we've committed are extremely strong and show a clear path towards national rankings and a first conference title," added Alzina. "The commitment to my tenure allows us to bond these groups with confidence that their time here as Bronco Beach pioneers can be historic."
 
The 2026 Broncos featured four 20-match winners, led by Alexandra Urbina's 27 victories. Urbina also eclipsed the 50 career wins mark in only her third year. Santa Clara will return three all-WCC award winners in 2027 while also adding two talented newcomers.
