Ben Campopiano enters his fourth year as Santa Clara’sDirector of Baseball Operations in 2014. Campopiano has experienceas a teacher, coach, and camp director. He was the Head BaseballCoach at Northgate High School (Walnut Creek, Calif.) in 2010 and2011, where he led the team to the playoffs both years.
Prior to becoming the baseball coach at Northgate, Campopianowas an assistant coach there for five years. He also worked atNorthgate as a social studies teacher, teaching Government,Economics, Psychology, and United States History. While atNorthgate, Campopiano served as the school’s technologydirector, handling webmaster duties for the athletic and academicwebsites.
Campopiano founded and directed Bronco Baseball Academy in 2001with his brother Jon Campopiano. The year-round baseball academyhas helped thousands of Bay Area youth baseball players improvetheir skills and develop a love for the game.
Prior to becoming a full-time teacher and coach, Campopianoworked in the political industry. From 2004 to 2006 he worked inWashington, D.C., Boston, and San Francisco on the Presidential andCongressional elections. During his time working on politicalcampaigns he organized community volunteers, registered citizens tovote, did large and small-donor fundraising, worked on improvingvoter turnout, and managed grassroots campaignoperations.
Campopiano earned a Communication degree from Saint Mary’sCollege in 2003, and received his teaching credential from ChapmanUniversity in 2008.
