Chad Baum was hired as an assistant baseball coach at SantaClara University prior to the 2007 season. The 2011 season will behis fifth on the Mission Campus. A veteran of four NCAA CollegeWorld Series as a player and coach, Baum is the Broncos' primaryhitting instructor. He also coaches third base, works with theteam's catchers and assists in recruiting.

Entering the 2010-11 season Baum owns 11 years of Division Icoaching experience. Prior to coming to the Mission Campus, Baumserved as an assistant for current Fullerton head coach DaveSerrano at UC Irvine and now-University of Oregon head coach GeorgeHorton at Cal State Fullerton.

At UC Irvine he was the Anteaters' first-base coach,specializing in hitting instruction and tutoring the catchers. As avolunteer assistant coach at his alma mater from 2001 to 2004, Baumhelped the Titans to three College World Series appearances,including an NCAA National Championship in 2004.

As a player, Baum captained the 1998 and 1999 Titan squads,leading Cal State Fullerton to the College World Series his seniorseason. A catcher, his expertise behind the plate also helped himtutor Fullerton's 2004 First Team All-American Kurt Suzuki, who wasa second-round MLB draft choice of the Oakland Athletics.
