Jay Brossman joined the Santa Clara University baseball program in July 2021 as an assistant coach where he serves as the Broncos' hitting coach and assists with recruiting. He is in his fourth season with the Broncos in 2024-25.

The Broncos once again had top marks offensively in 2024 with Brossman guiding the offense. The team led the West Coast Conference and ranked 42nd in the nation with 16 triples. It was also top-five in the conference in stolen bases (2nd), batting average (5th), home runs (5th), hits (5th), and slugging percentage (5th).

Brossman spearheaded the Broncos' historic offense in 2023, which led the team to its first WCC Tournament title and the program's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 26 years. With Brossman as the hitting coach/offensive coordinator, the Broncos set a new program record with 72 team home runs, besting the previous record of 62 set in 1984. Their 103 doubles were also the most since 2014 and helped lead the team to a program-best .491 slugging percentage. Efrain Manzo was the big bat in a lineup full of them. He had the most home runs (17) since 2003, the most total bases (141) since 2010, the highest slugging percentage (.668) since 2003, and the most extra base hits (38) since 2002.

Santa Clara finished 2023 with 269 walks, their most since 1997. All the walks and a .298 batting average, led by 552 hits, the most since 2010, led to a .410 team on-base percentage which was the best since 2010. All the baserunners helped the team score 552 runs which was the most since 2010.

The Broncos ranked among the nation's top-50 in four offensive categories in 2023 and were in the WCC's top-three in 17 of them. Santa Clara was the best in the WCC in runs scored, walks, on-base percentage, stolen bases, sacrifice bunts, triples and triples per game.

Brossman came to Santa Clara from the University of Utah, having spent nine years on the Utes' baseball staff. A former four-time all-conference infielder for the Utes, Brossman completed his fifth year as a full-time assistant coach in 2021 serving as the hitting coach and running the offense for head coach Bill Kinneberg, who retired after the season.

Under Brossman, Utah had one of its best offensive seasons in 2017 when they hit for a .287 batting average, the highest since the Utes joined the Pac-12 in 2012. The Utes also had Pac-12 era highs in slugging percentage (.399), on-base percentage (.375), RBI (280), hits (514) and runs scored (311).

Under Brossman’s tutelage,three Utes - Dallas Carroll, DaShawn Keirsey, Jr. and Oliver Dunn - were selected in the MLB draft in consecutive years. Carroll was drafted in the ninth round by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2017 MLB draft and Keirsey was selected in the fourth round by the Minnesota Twins in 2018 while Dunn went in the 11th round to the New York Yankees in the 2019 draft.

Carroll earned All-America honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association in 2017 and was a two-time All-Pac-12 selection. Keirsey was a three-time All-Pac-12 and All-Defensive Team selection (2016-18) for the Utes. Dunn was voted Third-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball in 2019.

In 2015 and 2016, Brossman worked as the volunteer assistant coach for the Utes, overseeing the infield defense and assisting with hitting to help Utah win its first Pac-12 Championship in 2016.

Prior to 2015, Brossman spent two years as the Director of Operations and also served a year as a student-assistant coach (2012) where he worked as camp director, assisted with the preseason banquet and helped promote alumni relations.

The Pullman, Washington native hit .359 for the Utes from 2004-07, setting school records for hits (307), doubles (69), and total bases (482). Brossman was selected in the 36th round of the 2007 MLB draft and spent five years in the Los Angeles Angels minor league system. He was a Pioneer League All-Star in 2007.

Brossman earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Utah in 2012.
