Mike Oseguera Talks Bronco Baseball
Mike Oseguera enters his 1st year coaching at SantaClara University. Previously, he spent eight years coaching at UCSan Diego. Coach Oseguera will work with SCU’s hitters andoutfielders in 2011, while continuing to help head coach DanO'Brien run the Broncos’ baseball camps.
While Oseguera was at UCSD the Tritons compiled a record of304-149 (.671) and played in eight consecutive CaliforniaCollegiate Athletic Association conference tournaments, winning thetournament title four times (in 2005 and 2009-11). In 2009 theTritons won the CCAA regular season title for the first time inprogram history and advanced to the Division II College WorldSeries, another program first. In 2011, UCSD finished with anoverall record of 42-15, going 26-4 at home, and led the CCAA inBatting AVG., Runs Scored and Doubles.
Oseguera graduated from the University of San Diego in 2003, wherehe played four seasons as both a pitcher and position player. Heled the team in appearances in 2002 and was a member of two WestCoast Conference championship teams (2002, 2003). The Torerosadvanced to the NCAA Regionals both years.
Played three seasons for Justin Machado at San Diego’sbaseball powerhouse, La Costa Canyon High School. Earned Co-Playerof the Year honors in 1999. Coach Oseguera has four brothers(David, Robert, Paul, and Daniel) and one sister (Olivia). BrotherPaul pitched at UCLA.
Also served as a head coach for two youth travel baseball teams(RSF Titans and North County Cobras) in the San Diego area. TheTitans and Cobras have established themselves as two of the premiertravel ball teams in San Diego with the help of local coachinggreat Eric Andrews.
