AT SANTA CLARA: Started more than 40 games (44) on the mound in 69 total appearances during a five-year career ... The model student-athlete, Kitchen was named West Coast Conference All-Academic Honorable Mention four times while landing on the all-WCC second team in 2022 ... Also collected two WCC Pitcher of the Week awards during his career (one in 2022, one in 2023) ... Finished his career ranked No. 6 on the Santa Clara career strikeouts list with 255 ... Went 17-12 with a 4.36 ERA and one save in five years, posting .500 or better win-loss records during every season of his career ... Held opponents to a .239 batting average ... Began his career as a two-way player, going 1 for 2 at the plate (.500) and playing in four games in the outfield as a true freshman (2020).
AS A SENIOR (2024): Placed on Preseason All-WCC Team ... Named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention ... Recognized with the CalHOPE Courage Award for February 2024 ... Went 4-3 and struck out 27 in 17 appearances (seven starts) across 43 innings pitched ... Only allowed two total runs in his final four appearances of the year (eight total innings pitched) from May 3-17, lowering his season ERA by more than a run during that stretch ... Did not allow an earned run in six of his appearances, had shutout showings in five of them, and allowed one or fewer earned runs in 11 games ... Struck out a season-high three in four consecutive appearances from Feb. 25 to March 17 ... Also struck out three in five shutout innings while getting the win on the road at San Francisco (March 30).
AS A JUNIOR (2023): WCC All-Academic honorable mention … WCC Pitcher of the Week (March 6) … appeared in 17 games and made 16 starts … went 3-2 … had a 4.20 ERA in 81.1 innings … 68 strikeouts against 37 walks … led the team in starts, innings pitched, and strikeouts … second in the WCC in H/9 (7.41) … tossed 7 shutout innings with 8 strikeouts to get the win at UC San Diego (March 3) … struck out 9 and gave up an unearned run on 7 innings at Saint Mary’s (March 17).
AS A SOPHOMORE (2022): Second Team All-WCC … WCC Pitcher of the Week April 4 … appeared in 15 games and made 14 starts … led team in starts, innings pitched and strikeouts … 4.35 ERA in 72 1/3 innings … 4-4 record … 1 save … 101 strikeouts … started and got the win vs. Northwestern (Feb. 25) with eight strikeouts in six innings … fanned 11 in 5.2 innings vs. UC San Diego (March 4) … got the save in only relief appearance with 1 1/3 innings of work at Cal (March 8) … 8 strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings at Texas A&M (March 12) … punched out nine in 5 1/3 innings and got the win at San Francisco (March 18) … 15 strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings vs. LMU (March 25) … got the win in five innings with six strikeouts at Pacific (April 1) … struck out 10 while taking the win in six innings vs. Pepperdine (April 22).
AS A FRESHMAN (2021): Named WCC All-Academic ... posted a team-high five wins going 5-3 ... tied for the team lead with 16 apperances ... started in four games ... third on the team in ERA (3.58) and innings pitched (50.1) ... fourth on the team in opposing batting average (.221) and strikeouts (42) ... appeared in two games on the field as a defensive replacement at right field at Stanford (Feb. 27) and as a designated hitter against Saint Mary's (May 22) going 0-for-2 ... pitched a career-high 5.0 innings in three games (March 4 vs. Sacramento State, March 13 at UC San Diego and May 28 at San Francisco) ... struck out a career-high seven batters against Sacramento State (March 4), holding the Hornets to one hit over five innings ... started on the mound in his final three appearances of the season ... had back-to-back five inning shutout appearances (March 4 vs. Sacramento State, March 13 at UC San Diego).
**AS A FRESHMAN (2020): Appeared in four games on the mound, starting in three and played in four additional games as a defensive substitute at right field ... made his playing debut in the season opener against San Jose State (Feb. 14) as a defensive replacement and collected a single in his first at-bat ... made his pitching debut in the season opening series against San Jose State (Feb. 15) and tossed four scoreless innings in relief striking out a season-high six to earn his first win ... finished the season with a 1-0 record and 1.35 ERA striking out 17 over 13.1 innings ... held the opposition to a .170 batting average ... threw a season-high 4.2 innings against Sacramento State (Feb. 28) ... first start on the mound came against Georgia (Feb. 23) ... second on the team in strikeouts with 17 including 12 on swinging ... went 1-for-2 at the plate.
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from El Camino Real Charter High in Woodland Hills, California, in 2019 ... two-way player who played for one of the premier college development program with the Garciaparra Baseball Group in the summer and fall ... named Second-Team MaxPreps California All-State Large Schools Team as a pitcher as a senior with an 8-2 record ... hit .337/.472/.551 in 98 at-bats as a junior ... a commended student for the National Merit Scholarship program ... played for Team California in the inaugural States Play event against Team Texas.
