AS A SOPHOMORE IN 1999: Saw his first collegiate duty and responded with one save and a 5.29 ERA in 11 appearances...made his collegiate debut on Feb. 20 at UC Santa Barbara and was roughed up for four hits and four runs (three earned) in one full inning...also struggled in his second outing at Nevada, but then settled down nicely...had a 0.75 ERA (1er in 12.0ip) over his next seven outings to lower his ERA from 12.27 to a season best 3.45...lasted a career high 3.0 innings in back-to-back apperances, against San Jose State on Apr. 20 and vs. California on Apr. 27...Santa Clara won both of those contests...did not allow a run for five straight outings from Apr. 17 through May 8...worked a scoreless ninth inning to close out a 10-9 win over Portland on May 8 and earn his first career save...gave up four earned runs in just 1.1 innings over his last two outings.
