Biography

As a Junior in 2002: Started 30 of the 31 games he saw action in the field in addition to making 16 mound appearances in 2002... went 2-for-4 against Brigham Young with one run batted in... threw nine full innings against San Francisco in which he allowed one run in the Broncos 12-1 victory... struck out eight batters in seven innings against Hawaii-Hilo... was the only Bronco pitcher to throw more than 100 innings, finishing the year with 103 2/3 innings of work... tossed a team-high three complete games... led the staff with 70 strikeouts while walking only 26 batters... at 102 at-bats on the year... collected 25 hits while scoring 16 times and driving in eight runs... lifted his batting average by nearly 100 points over the last month of the season... finished the year by going 5-for-8 with one RBI and one run scored in the two games at Saint Mary's.

As a Sophomore in 2001: Appeared in 52 games on the field and on the mound... started 13 of his 16 appearances on the mound... batted .255 with eight doubles and 15 runs batted in... recorded a 5-6 record with a 4.92 ERA on the mound... threw a team-leading 89.2 innings of work on the mound in which he struck out 62 batters while allowing only 23 walks... earned a victory by throwing a complete game against San Francisco in which he allowed only one run... had 14 multiple-hit games, including two in which he went 3-for-5... had three multiple-RBI games... had a nine-game hitting streak in which he went 13-for-34 with two doubles and five runs batted in.

As a Freshman in 2000: Appeared in 30 games in the field and 17 on the mound as a freshman... won first career pitching start with a seven-inning, four-hit performance against Nevada... pitched at least seven innings on four occasions... batted .320 on the season... registered two doubles against San Diego and five on the season... earned a save and the win in a 9-8, 10-inning victory over 14th-ranked Loyola Marymount in the season finale... struck out two batters to clinch the win.

High School Information: Prepped at San Luis Obispo High School in San Luis Obispo, Calif... was a first baseman and pitcher for co-head coaches Jim Thompson and Mike Lee... had a .476 average as a senior with 3 home runs, 35 RBI and 15 stolen bases as a senior... also was 9-2 with a 3.30 ERA on the mound to earn league and county MVP accolades... was a career .415 hitter with 7 homers and 100 RBI and held a 26-10 pitching mark... holds a bevy of school records, including career batting average (.415), highest single-season average (.510), career hits (155), most hits in a season (52), and career wins (26)... named to the All-Northern League first team as a sophomore, junior and senior... also was on the All-California Interscholastic Federation first team his junior and senior years... graduated with a 3.5 grade point average.
