As a Freshman in 2001: Started all 14 of his appearances in his inaugural season on the Mission Campus... went 5-4 with a team low 4.39 ERA... pitched 80.0 innings in which he struck out 37 while walking only 16... combined on a five hit shutout with Jared Anderson against UC Davis... struck out a season-high six batters against San Diego on April 13.
