Jackson Gion is entering his fifth season as a member of the Santa Clara men's basketball staff. The 2025-26 season will be his first in the role as an assistant coach after previously serving as the Broncos' video coordinator for the first four seasons.

In 2024-25, Gion served as both an assistant coach and video coordinator. The upcoming season will be the first in which his responsibilities will shift solely to coaching. 

Hired in May 2021, Gion is in his second stint with the program, having served as a graduate student manager in both 2018-19 and 2019-20.

He was a member of the basketball team at Sonoma State where he was voted the 2016-17 Male Newcomer Athlete of the Year and was also All-CCAA honorable mention that year. While with the Seawolves, he was on the Dean’s List in 2017 and 2018.

Gion played in 29 games with one start his first year and averaged 6.7 points per game while knocking down 49 3-pointers.

In his senior campaign, he played in 25 games and started 15 while scoring 9.0 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. He connected on 54 3-pointers that season while averaging 27.7 minutes per game.

Gion graduated from Sonoma State in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He also received his associate's degree in business administration from Foothill College in 2016. He attended and played high school ball at Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose. 

A native of Morgan Hill, Calif., Gion is married to his wife, Erin.Â
