Jackson Gion is entering his sixth season as a member of the Santa Clara men's basketball staff. The 2026-27 season will be his second year solely in a coaching capacity after serving as both an assistant coach and video coordinator for the 2024-25 season and as the program's video coordinator for the previous three years.
In his first season as assistant coach, Gion helped guide the Broncos to one of their most successful campaigns in program history in 2025-26. SCU put together a 26-8 overall record, including a 15-3 mark in WCC play, en route to the program's first appearance in the WCC Championship Tournament Final since 2007 and their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1996. Redshirt freshman Allen Graves was selected 19th overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, giving the Broncos their third first round selection over the last five years.
Hired in May 2021, Gion is in his second stint with the program, having served as a graduate student manager in both 2018-19 and 2019-20.
He was a member of the basketball team at Sonoma State where he was voted the 2016-17 Male Newcomer Athlete of the Year and was also All-CCAA honorable mention that year. While with the Seawolves, he was on the Dean’s List in 2017 and 2018.
Gion played in 29 games with one start his first year and averaged 6.7 points per game while knocking down 49 3-pointers.
In his senior campaign, he played in 25 games and started 15 while scoring 9.0 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. He connected on 54 3-pointers that season while averaging 27.7 minutes per game.
Gion graduated from Sonoma State in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He also received his associate's degree in business administration from Foothill College in 2016. He attended and played high school ball at Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose.
A native of Morgan Hill, Calif., Gion and his wife Erin are the proud parents of a son named Miles.
