"David is a team captain who has battled through a great deal of adversity during his career at Santa Clara. He has vastly improved offensively during the offseason. He is stronger, is more aware of the game and is playing at the highest level since he has been here. If he stays healthy, we hope he can play 30 minutes a game and be an integral part of our interior game."

Has moved into a position as one of the top 10 shot blockers in school history with 47 in three seasons ... has the ability to become one of the better big men in the West Coast Conference ... a team captain who provides strong direction to the younger players ... has good shooting touch both around the basket and stepping to the outside ... entered preseason drills healthy and in good conditioning.

AS A SENIOR IN 2001-2002: Played 20 minutes off the bench against Pacific in the season opener ... missed the two exhibition games and the Loyola contest due to an inflamed disk in his back ... played first WCC contest against LMU at home and registered three minutes of action ... scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds in limited action against the Tigers ... scored eight points to go with four rebounds and two assists at Nevada ... scored nine points with nine boards aginst Portland ... recorded a season-high 10 field goal attempts against the Pilots at home ... recorded a double-double with 10 points an 10 rebounds against USF ... also recorded career-high three assists and two blocks against the Dons.

AS A JUNIOR IN 2000-2001: Started in 21 of his 31 appearances at the center position ... missed the LMU game at home due to a hip injury ... scored in double figures on four occasions and recorded two double-doubles on the year ... recorded first career double-double with 11 points and 12 boards against Saint Mary's College ... scored 14 points and grabbed 10 boards against Portland in the season finale ... scored a career-high 14 points against Idaho State and Portland ... went 6-for-6 from the free throw line against Idaho State, one of eight perfect performances from the charity stripe ... scored 11 points in win at San Jose State ... led the team from the free throw line with .784 percent ... went 4-for-5 from the field at San Jose State ... went 5-for-6 from the free throw line against No. 2-ranked Stanford ... recorded three blocked shots against San Francisco ... finished 11th in the league in blocks with 0.5 per game ... free throw percenage of .784 is fourth-best in WCC, but did not qualify for league leaders due to minimum attempts.

AS A SOPHOMORE IN 1999-2000: Started 19 of 31 games at the center position and led the team in field goal percentage...shot .500 from the field during the season and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the three-point line...started nine of the final 10 games of the season...shot .643 on 9-of-14 from the field in the final three games...blocked a team-high 24 shots on the season, just one shy of the school's top-10 single season list...scored a career-high 10 points to go with five rebounds in win at Portland...has not attempted a three-point field goal at home...led the team in rebounding twice - at Idaho State and against Humboldt State...

AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN IN 1998-99: Frontcourt reserve appeared in 24 games, drawing five starts (UCLA, Mount St. Mary's, San Jose State, Illinois-Chicago and William & Mary)...averaged 1.7 points and 1.0 rebounds...saw action in nine of 14 WCC games, playing an average of 3.0 minutes per game...grabbed a game-high five rebounds in the season-opener at Pacific...made his first start vs. UCLA at historic Pauley Pavilion...finished with two points in 15 minutes of action...scored a season-high eight points to go along with four rebounds in the home win over Mount St. Mary's...played 21 minutes in the double overtime win vs. San Jose State, finishing with five points and two rebounds...played seven minutes in a starting assignment vs. Illinois-Chicago at the Carrier Classic in Syracuse, NY...came off the bench for the next three games vs. Syracuse, Oregon and UC Santa Barbara...was back in the starting five against William & Mary in place of a hobbled Darrell Teat...scored two points with two rebounds in 15 minutes of action...scored five points (all from the line) vs. Stanford in a 10-minute playing stint...scored a total of six points in his last 14 appearances...did not play more than seven minutes over the last 19 games of the season.

AS A FRESHMAN IN 1997-98: Redshirted the season with groin and back problems.

HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION: Attended Seattle Preparatory High School in Seattle, Wash....played for Chris Miller...honorable mention Street&Smith All-America selection as a senior...first team all-state selection...three-year All-Metro first team pick...Metro League MVP as a junior...averaged 22.6 points, 10.8 rebounds and shot 56.5 percent from the field as a senior...also averaged 3.8 blocks a game...scored a career-high 40 points vs. Cleveland HS...helped Seattle Prep to back-to-back 24-6 records as a junior and senior...four-year honor roll student.
