Biography

Is one of two captains this season... named a GTE Academic All-American... proved her versatility last season after starting in defense and then moving to the front line following the injury to Megan Horvath... an extremely focused and intelligent athlete... displays an unselfish style of play... a fleet-footed forward who has great finishing skills.

AS A JUNIOR IN 1999: Appeared in 23 matches with four starts... totaled 14 points after registering five goals and four assists... tied for ninth place on Santa Clara's all-time charts with 25 career goals... defensive play was a major reason why the Broncos posted shutouts in four of their first six matches... tallied first point of the year Sept. 17, teaming with Kathleen Celio to assist on a Jacqui Little goal midway through the second half en route to a 4-0 victory against Seton Hall... also recorded an assist during a 7-2 road win at Duke Sept. 26... came off the bench to score first goal of the year on Oct. 3, beating the Alabama keeper at the 56:35 mark of 9-0 Bronco win in the championship game of the Santa Clara Nike Classic... posted sixth career multi-goal game during a 6-1 romp of visiting Cal Poly SLO Oct. 14... her score in the 68th minute was the final tally during a 5-0 West Coast Conference road win at Pepperdine Oct. 24... helped lead the Broncos to a 7-0 rout of UCLA in the third round of the NCAA Tournament, assisting on a Jacqui Little goal at 43:55 and scoring her own at 69:00.

AS A SOPHOMORE IN 1998: Appeared in all 24 matches, garnering 11 starts... accumulated 21 points on ten goals and an assist... her three game-winning strikes tied for the second-highest total on the club... started the season by netting a pair of goals on Sept. 1 at Cal Poly SLO... notched another two-goal game, including the game-winner, on Sept. 4 against Washington State... stung California with the game-winner for the second consecutive year on Sept. 24, scoring at the 21:04 mark... scored just before halftime in the championship game of the Santa Clara/Nike Classic, giving the Broncos a 3-0 lead en route to a 5-0 triumph over No. 25 Duke... scored a goal and registered an assist against Gonzaga on Oct. 11... netted a pair of goals including the game-winner on Oct. 18 at No. 24 Texas A&M... netted second career postseason goal in the second round victory over Pacific... District VIII Academic All-America.

AS A FRESHMAN IN 1997: Played in 23 matches, earning seven starts... finished with 10 goals and five assists for 25 points... her 10 goals ranked third on the team... shared the team lead with Jacqui Little for game winning goals with four... appeared in 23 matches, with seven starts... put name on the Bronco score chart just 17 minutes into career, assisting on Nikki Serlenga's goal against San Jose State... began a five-game scoring streak on Sept. 18 against San Diego State, logging an assist on Santa Clara's only goal of the night... scored first game-winning goal on Sept. 21 in Berkeley, punching home the final goal in a 2-1 win over California... added the final goal in a 3-0 blanking of Stanford on Sept. 27... netted the game-winner Oct. 3 against Maryland... was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week after her performance in the George Mason Tournament... recorded two goals and an assist in the championship game of the Santa Clara Nike Classic... drilled the game-winning score against Texas on Oct. 16... found the back of the net twice at Loyola Marymount on Oct. 24... scored the ninth goal of career on Oct. 26 at Pepperdine... tallied the team's fifth goal against Minnesota.

HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL: Attended Niwot High School in Longmont, Colo... lettered in soccer and basketball... played forward and center midfielder for coach Cotton Burden... scored 107 goals and added 67 assists in career, leading Niwot to Regional Championships all four years... a NSCAA All-America selection as a sophomore... a three-time Colorado 4A Player of the Year... led Niwot to the state title as a sophomore... as a senior, led the state with 14 assists...was named all-area by the Daily Times Call and all-state by the Rocky Mountain News... played five years with the Lakewood Fury club team, which has also produced Bronco teammates Ashley Albrecht and Crystal Gordon as well as former standouts Dayna Smith and Whitney Hollis...helped lead the Fury to the state title each of the last three years... played for a boys' club team as a 12- and 13-year-old... also spent time with the Colorado Rush under Tom Stone... graduated with a 4.122 grade point average, third in a class of 218... a National Merit Scholar and Niwot's Scholar Athlete of the Year...an academic all-state selection... majoring in accounting... full name is Rachel Marie Weber... daughter of Irv and Carol Weber... born December 2, 1978 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
