Softball Falls in Bronco Classic Finale

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – In the final day of the Bronco Classic, Santa Clara softball fell to CSU Fullerton 10-0 Sunday afternoon.

The Titans scored a pair of runs in the top of the first and came back with two more in the second. Three-straight two-out singles in the second led to the two Fullerton runs of the inning.

Fullerton added six runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

McCall James (0-3) got the loss in the start for Santa Clara (2-7) while going 6.0-plus innings. She allowed 10 runs on 13 hits with two walks and a strikeout.

Gianetta France and Casandra Padilla both had a pair of hits for the Bronco offense.

Sydney Golden (5-0) made the start for Fullerton (8-2) and went 5.0 shutout innings. She allowed four hits and had three strikeouts to go with two walks.

The Broncos best scoring chance came in the bottom of the fifth when they loaded the bases with two outs. Kelsie Barnard roped a ball to third that was snared for the final out of the inning.
