SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Brittanee Fisher is joining the Santa Clara University softball coaching staff as an assistant coach, announced head coach
Gina Carbonatto. Fisher brings three years of collegiate-level coaching experience to the team and will be in charge of the Broncos defense.
Fisher joins Santa Clara from West Coast Conference rival Saint Mary's where she served as an assistant coach last season. Prior to that she was the head coach of the Billings Saints softball club after coaching at her alma mater, Montana State University Billings, for two seasons as an assistant coach and a graduate assistant.
"I am excited to be joining the Santa Clara softball program as the new defensive specialist," said Fisher. "This program has consistently been a prominent force in the WCC, and I can't wait to start working with the team as we prepare for the 2027 season."
Under Fisher's guidance at Saint Mary's, the Gaels improved their team fielding percentage from .969 in 2025 to .974 last season to lead the conference. They committed a league-low 42 errors and turned 24 double plays, second behind Santa Clara who had 30.
"We're thrilled to welcome Brittanee to Santa Clara and have her take over our defense," said Carbonatto. "Coach Fish brings a competitive spirit and genuine care for her athletes, along with a well-rounded coaching background and a proven track record of success at Saint Mary's. We're excited for her arrival and can't wait to see the positive impact she will have on our SCU softball program."
Fisher began her coaching career the summer after her junior year at MSUB, when she joined the coaching staff of Thunder Fastpitch as a first base coach and hitting specialist maintaining that role the summer after her senior season.
The Billings, Montana native was a power hitting first baseman at MSUB and finished with a school record 41 home runs, a mark good for third all-time in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Fisher was an everyday starter since her freshman season where she appeared in 185 career games and finished with a .310 batting average and 115 RBIs. She was a three-time All-GNAC selection garnering first team (2021), second team (2022) and honorable mention recognition (2018) as well as picking up second team NFCA All-West Region honors in 2021 over her five-year career.
Fisher earned her bachelor of science degree in health and human performance in 2022 and was a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-Region honoree.
