STANFORD, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis doubles teams of
Elvena Gevargiz and
Katya Tabachnik along with
Caitlyn Frankel and
Jamie Schroer lost its round of 16 matches in the main draw of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Sunday. The losses brought an end to the championships for the Broncos which advanced two singles to the round of 32 and two doubles teams to the round of 16 in the main draw during three days of competition. Gevargiz and Schroer each won four matches, winning two each in singles and doubles.
After winning a match in each of the first two days of the championships, the Gevargiz and Tabachnik duo fell to Cal's Olivia Hauger and Julia Rosenqvist, 8-3. Another Cal doubles team of Anna Bright and Jasie Dunk beat Frankel and Schroer, 8-2.
The only other Bronco to compete on Sunday was
Nadine Del Carmen, who lost to Sacramento State's Carolina Chernyetsky in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0(8), in the consolation bracket.
Santa Clara will conclude its fall schedule hosting the Bronco Invitational from Nov. 2 - 4.
