BURLINGAME, Calif. – No. 10 Stanford men's tennis team swept Santa Clara, 5-0, late Tuesday night at the Broadway Tennis Center after inclement weather forced the 2019 dual match season opener to be moved from Stanford to the indoor courts.
Despite losing its home court advantage, the Cardinal, featuring four singles players ranked in the top-101, showcased its fire power against the Broncos who were picked to finish second (along with BYU and LMU) in the West Coast Conference.

Jesus Tapiador Barajas who played singles on court one for the first time in his career, went toe to toe with No. 20 Axel Geller before falling in three sets, 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-4.
In singles action, No. 64 Alexandre Rotsaert took care of
Andrew Gu, 6-2, 6-2, on court two to earn the second point for the Cardinal. No. 101 William Genesen beat
Connor Garnett, 6-4, 6-2, before Jack Barber clinched the match beating
Robert Seby, 7-6(5), 6-3.
Santa Clara returns to action on Jan. 27 against UC Santa Cruz and Sonoma State in the home opener at Degheri Tennis Center.
