SAN JOSE, Calif. — Santa Clara beach volleyball dropped a pair of duals Saturday at Spartan Beach Courts, 4-1 to UC Davis in the opener and 4-1 to host San José State in the second matchup. Kathryn Decker and Michelle Shaffer won both matches at No. 1 to remain perfect through two days of competition.

Decker/Shaffer started the day with a 24-22, 14-21, 15-13 victory over Paloma Bowman/Jane Seslar of the Aggies (1-1) before defeating Caitlin Bettany/Kaitlynn Zdorik of the Spartans (4-0) 23-21, 21-19. 

The Broncos (0-4) round out the three-day competition with a matchup against No. 14 Grand Canyon Sunday at 10 a.m. 

"I'm very proud of Kathryn and Michelle for continuing their great chemistry and competitive drive to stay unbeaten through four matches against tough opponents," associate head coach Jeff Alzina said. "We'll make some switches at the other positions vs Grand Canyon tomorrow and see if we can get some more wins heading into the LA trip next weekend."
